GENEVA- Richard “Rick” A. Larsen, 74 of Geneva passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday May 2, 2017 at Geneva General Hospital.

Family and friends may call from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. Thursday (May 4) at the McGuigan & Bero Funeral Home, 45 High St. Geneva. Funeral services will follow calling hours at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor William Robbins will officiate. Burial will be in Bellona Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Yates County Humane Society or Sons of the American Legion Geneva Post 396.

Rick was born on February 11, 1943 in Geneva the son of the late Julius and Elizabeth Havens Larsen. He attended Penn Yan High School and was the Town of Geneva Water Superintendent for 33 years. Rick was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Geneva Post 396, Seneca Lake Duck Hunters Assoc, Town of Geneva and Ontario County Republican Party Committee and the West Lake Road Fire Department.

Rick’s heart was at Seneca lake, he enjoyed many years fishing and spending nights with his family at the lake. Family was number one, he never wanted to let his family down. Rick also enjoyed vacations in Canada with family and Key West with special friends.

Rick is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Shirley Perthel Larsen; his daughters, Scherry (Charles) Bracko and Lorie (Bernie) Peck of Geneva who he adored; his grandchildren, Nicole Bracko and Michael Peck of Geneva who were his pride and joy; sister, Judith O’Brien of Geneva; brother, David (Carol) Larsen of Mechanicsville, NY; nieces & nephews; Jason Hopf, Joshua (Abby) Hopf, John O’Brien, David (Rebekah) Larsen and Jennifer (David) Szlamowicz; several cousins; sister-in-law’s, Mary Frarey and Kathleen Perthel; his fur babies, Barbaro, Bristol and Molly.

He was predeceased by his parents Julius and Elizabeth that have been patiently awaiting their reunion in heaven; in-laws, George and Geraldine Perthel; brothers-in-law, Gerry Perthel and Richard Frarey.

The family would like to thank all the staff of 2 west at Geneva General Hospital for all their compassionate care.
