GENEVA- Robert C. McGuigan, age 74 of Geneva passed away on Tuesday July 4, 2017 at Geneva General Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

There will be no prior calling hours. Funeral services will be held on Friday (July 7) at 12:00 p.m. at the McGuigan & Bero Funeral Home 45 High St. Geneva. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

Bob was born on January 20, 1943 in Geneva the son of the late Clarence and Florence Plumb McGuigan. He was a life resident of Geneva and graduated from Geneva High School. Bob worked for many years at Lewis-Mooney Company Inc. and retired from Monroe Sheet Metal HVAC.

He was a member of Sheet Metal Union Local 46 and St. Stephen’s Church.

Bob was an avid NY Yankee fan and it’s ironic that he passed away from Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS). He was actively involved in sports in the community where he previously coached CYO Basketball, Geneva Little League Baseball, DeSales JV Basketball and continued to coach his grandchildren from the sidelines.

Bob loved going to casinos, playing trivia on Thursday nights at Vonnie’s and his 9:00 a.m. breakfast club at Tim Hortons.

He is survived by his wife Carol; children, Cyndy (Andy) Wright of Waterloo, Amy (Rick) Willower of Geneva and Robert “Bubba” (Melissa) McGuigan of Middletown, CT; grandchildren, Katie (Dave) Moodie, Kevin (Kelsey Belile) Wright, Tim Wright, Jake Willower, Luke Willower and Jarin McGuigan; sisters, Shirley (Robert) Hefferon of Geneva and Doris Leonard of Geneva; brother, Richard (Suzanne) McGuigan of Geneva; several nieces and nephews.

Bob was predeceased by 2 brothers, James McGuigan and Glenn McGuigan.
