GENEVA- Jane K. Hyde, 89, of Geneva, formerly of DeWitt, passed away at home on Friday, June 16, 2017.

Jane was born and raised in Virginia. She attended the University of Southern California and was a graduate of the University of Arkansas, earning a Masters Degree in psychology. She worked for over 21 years at Syracuse University, helping thousands of students, retiring in 1988 as Director of the Office of Student Assistance.

While residing in DeWitt for 58 years, Jane was very involved with many volunteer activities, including Board of Directors of the DeWitt Community Library, Commissioner on the DeWitt Parks and Recreation Council, Board of Directors of Contact counseling service, and Girl Scouts. She was a long-time member of DeWitt Community Church.

Jane was a wonderful mother and beloved grandmother. She is survived by daughters Linda (Mark) Peterson and Shelley Hyde, both of Geneva, and grandchildren Eric Peterson of Los Angeles, CA and Kelsey Peterson of Portland, OR. She was predeceased by her former husband, Howard Hyde.

Her daughters wish to express their gratitude to Brenda, Teresita and Pam for the compassionate, dedicated care they provided for Jane.

Arrangements will be private and at the convenience of the family.
