GENEVA- Kathleen M. “Katie” McClure, age 80, of Penn Yan passed away on Friday June 16, 2017 at home on Seneca lake surrounded by her loving family.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday (June 20) at the McGuigan & Bero Funeral Home, 45 High St. Geneva. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Thomas P. Mull will officiate. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

Katie was born on December 13, 1936 in Geneva the daughter of the late George J. and Clara Ryan DeWitt. She was a loving wife, mom, nana and a devoted homemaker who bonded deeply with her grandchildren. Katie loved her family and friends, painting, dancing, taking airplane flying lessons and social events and was the life of the party who lit up the entire room with her presence.

She was the traveling companion through life with her husband Ken, traveling by motor home and motor cycle. Their most memorable trip was a 10,500-mile trip by motor cycle from the Finger Lakes across the United States into Mexico and Canada.

Katie is survived by her loving husband of 59 years Ken who says there are no words great enough to describe his honey, his sweetie pie, the one with the beautiful Irish eyes and the love of his life; children, Colleen (Rich) Roth of Reno NV, Ken McClure II of Penn Yan and Karen (Steve) Horton of Geneva; grandchildren, Patty (Spencer Ford) Leong of South Korea, Chris (Amy Pratt) Leong of Breckenridge, CO and Brittany (Paul Yaxis) Moracco of Webster; great-grandchildren, Landon and Elliana Yaxis; sister Sally (Stan) Czaplak of Geneva; sister-in-law, Betty DeWitt; brother-in-law, John McQuillan; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Edward DeWitt and Patrick DeWitt; sister, Marcie McQuillan.
